A live wedding painter attends your wedding, sets up an easel during the celebration, and paints a chosen moment from your day on canvas in real time. From the Hudson Valley to Cape Cod, we're building a roster of independent live wedding painters who work across the East Coast. We're early in building this community, so every artist on this page has been personally chosen, not just approved. If you don't see the right match for your date or style yet, tell us what you're looking for and we'll help you find it.

Live wedding painting means the artist is physically at your wedding, painting one scene, usually the first dance or the ceremony, as it happens in front of them. You take home an original piece of art created in the room on the day. If you're new to the idea, our US live wedding painters page explains the whole process, from choosing your moment to what happens after the last brushstroke.
The short version for planning purposes: your artist arrives an hour or two before the chosen moment, paints for four to six hours across the event, and either reveals the finished canvas that night or completes final details in the studio and ships it to you.
The East Coast is the busiest wedding painting market in the country, and also the easiest region for artists to cover widely. The corridor from Boston through New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC puts a dozen major wedding markets within a few hours of each other, so an artist based in one city routinely takes bookings across several states.
Heading north, that means New England: Cape Cod, Newport, the Berkshires, Vermont, and the Maine coast. Around New York, it's the Hudson Valley, Long Island and the Hamptons, and the New Jersey shore. South of DC, the market runs through Virginia's Blue Ridge and Charlottesville wine country into the Carolinas, where Charleston and Asheville are two of the strongest wedding destinations in America, then on through Savannah to Florida, from Palm Beach down to Miami. If your city isn't named here, enquire anyway. Travel is quoted upfront, and in this region it's rarely the obstacle it can be elsewhere in the country.
This region hands artists more variety than anywhere else in the US. The Gilded Age mansions of Newport and restored estates and barns of the Hudson Valley give a painter grand architecture and landscape in one frame. New York City offers rooftops, lofts, and historic ballrooms. Charleston and Savannah bring live oaks, ironwork, and candlelit historic homes, while coastal weddings from the Hamptons to Palm Beach put the ocean in the background of the canvas. When you brief your artist, the venue is as much a part of the conversation as the two of you, since it usually fills most of the painting.
East Coast pricing follows the national pattern: most live wedding painters charge between $2,000 and $6,500, with the typical booking around $3,500 for a 16x20 inch canvas and four to six hours of painting, travel billed separately. Expect the top of that range in the luxury markets, particularly New York, the Hamptons, Newport, and Palm Beach, where experienced painters are in heaviest demand. The region's density works in your favour though, since a strong artist within driving distance keeps travel costs modest. Our full US cost breakdown covers the other pricing factors in detail.
The East Coast wedding season effectively runs year-round, it just moves. New England and the Mid-Atlantic peak from May through October, with September and October Saturdays the most contested dates in the country. The Southeast runs strongest in spring and fall, and Florida flips the calendar entirely, peaking from November through April when the northern season is quiet. Established painters in the major markets book 12 to 24 months out for peak dates, so if your date is set, an early enquiry costs nothing and protects your options.
We also list live wedding painters covering the Central states and the West Coast, and many of our artists will travel between regions for the right wedding. Marrying abroad? Several of our UK and European artists take on destination weddings.
We're actively building our roster from New England through New York, Charleston, and Florida. If you're a professional live painter in the region, apply to join the platform and reach couples searching for exactly what you do.
