Description
There's a tradition in the South of commissioning a portrait to mark a moment worth keeping — long before anyone owned a camera, families here turned to painters to hold onto what mattered. I bring that same tradition to your wedding day, working in oil to capture you both with the realism and detail that portraiture is known for, while the world around you — the light, the setting, the movement of the day — is painted with a softer, more impressionistic touch.
This isn't a piece that gets rushed to a finish on the night. I take my time completing the work in my studio afterward, so the detail in your faces and the atmosphere of your day both get the attention they deserve. If you're working with a wedding planner, I'm glad to coordinate with them directly to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day itself.
The result is a painting built to last — an investment piece that only grows in meaning, generation after generation.
How it works
Step 1 — Planning your painting
Every wedding is different, so we'll start with a video consultation to discuss your day — the moment you'd like me to capture, the style and canvas size that suits your space, and any details you'd especially like included. If you have a wedding planner, I'm happy to loop them in too, and we'll talk through framing options at this stage as well.
Step 2 — On the day
I arrive a couple of hours ahead of the moment to speak with your planner, venue, and photographer, so I can decide the best time to take my reference photo and set up my easel somewhere I won't get in the way of your day.
Step 3 — Studio finishing & delivery
Rather than finish on the night, I complete each painting back in my studio afterward, giving the light and detail the time they need. Once finished, your painting is carefully shipped to you via tracked, insured delivery.

- A closer, more focused composition of the two of you
Live Oak

- Best for: couples who want a larger, room-commanding piece with more of the day's setting and atmosphere captured alongside you both
- 18×24 inch oil on canvas (other sizes available on request)
- A wider scene with greater detail in the background and surroundings

- Video consultation to plan your moment, composition, and framing — including your wedding planner, if you have one
- Full live painting at your wedding
- Studio finishing for the final detail
- Shipping via tracked, insured delivery, calculated at enquiry

Cancellation & Refund Policy▼
Full refund of your deposit if cancelled 30+ days before your event.
50% refund of your deposit if cancelled 14–29 days before your event.
No refund if cancelled within 14 days of your event.
If flights have already been arranged and booked on your behalf, the cost of those flights will be deducted from your deposit refund.

About the Artist
I grew up on the coast of Alabama, and more than twenty years spent studying oil painting here and abroad has always brought me back home to it. I'm a classically trained representational painter; my work is built on precise draftsmanship and a real understanding of color, and it tends to stand apart in a room of more contemporary art. Portraiture runs deep in Southern tradition, and it's the thread that connects the child portraits I've long painted to the wedding paintings I create today. I'm based in Alabama, and paint weddings across the US.
