All three paint weddings across Southern California and travel further afield too. Where they live affects how much travel adds to your quote.
Los Angeles, Malibu and the coast north of LA: Ryan is closest.
Orange County and the coast south of LA: Lauren is closest.
The Inland Empire, Riverside and the Palm Springs area: Aeron and Tracy are closest.
San Diego, Santa Barbara and beyond: all three travel there, so expect travel, and perhaps a night's stay, to be part of your quote.
Our other US artists also travel to California weddings. You will find them below the LA artists, nearest first, or on our West Coast live wedding painters page.
Our three LA-area artists start from $1,800 to $3,200 for their smallest package, before travel. These are the starting prices on each artist's page, not an average of what couples pay.
Your quote grows with the size of the canvas and the number of people you want painted. Ryan, for example, charges $1,800 for a 16x20 inch canvas and $3,100 for a 24x30. Aeron and Tracy charge $3,200 for the two of you and $4,400 for up to eight people. A bigger canvas costs more, but it gives the artist room for finer detail, your venue and your guests.
Choosing an artist who lives near your venue usually keeps travel costs down. For a full breakdown of what US artists charge, read our US live wedding painter price guide.
LA weddings come in every style, and each one gives a painter something different to work with. A beach club at sunset fills the canvas with warm, glowing color. A vineyard estate in the hills brings rolling rows and long golden light. A downtown ballroom gives grand architecture and sparkle, and a desert venue near Palm Springs offers wide skies and bold shapes.
Most couples ask their painter to capture the first dance, because it gives the artist the whole reception to work. Others choose the ceremony, the first kiss, or a composed scene that brings in a loved one who could not be there. Talk it through with your artist before the day, and send them photos of your venue so they can plan the composition.
Outdoor ceremonies are common in Southern California. Our artists bring their own setup, but let them know if they will be painting outside, so they can plan for sun, shade and wind.
1. Compare artists. Look at each artist's paintings, style, starting price and where they are based.
2. Send a message. Share your date, your venue and the moment you would love painted.
3. Have a video call. The paintings might be wonderful, but you also need to connect with the person. Your artist will spend hours at your wedding, so a short call is the best way to know they are right for you.
4. Secure your date. Pay your deposit through TheWeddingPainters. Each artist's page shows their deposit and cancellation terms, and your messages and payments all stay in one place.

It depends on the artist. Aeron and Tracy finish the whole painting at your wedding, so you can take it home that night. Other artists reveal the painting in the evening, then add the final details in their studio and send it to you afterwards. Lauren, for example, delivers within two weeks.
