The Experience
Description
Live illustration is a beautiful way to give your guests something they’ll genuinely want to keep, a personalised portrait created at your wedding, doubling as both premium entertainment and an unforgettable wedding favour.
On the day, guests are photographed quickly (so it takes minimal time away from celebrating), then I create custom portraits in watercolour that they can take home and frame, a treasured keepsake of your wedding day.
So how does it work?
Step 1: Your couple portrait (created before the wedding)
As part of the package, the newlyweds receive a 14×10” wedding couple illustration, created prior to the wedding day — a special piece celebrating your love story. If you’d like extra personalisation (details, colours, meaningful touches that reflect you as a couple and your wedding day), this is available on request.
Step 2: Live illustration at your venue (minimum 6 hours)
I travel to your venue and illustrate guests throughout the day. Portraits are created from photos taken on the day to keep things smooth and quick for guests.
Step 3: Guest portraits as favours
Guests receive an A5 watercolour illustration to take home. The service is designed as 1 illustration per couple/family, with a recommendation of no more than 4 people in a portrait if finishing on-site.
Step 4: Keep it flowing (and make sure no one is missed)
I’ll work through guests steadily during the booking, creating as many portraits as possible within your chosen timeframe — keeping the station calm, organised, and easy for guests to enjoy. If there are any portraits I don’t get to fully finish during the event, I’ll complete them off-site afterwards using the photos taken on the day — so no one on the list gets missed.

Travel
Based in West Yorkshire and available to travel up to 3 hours (covering Yorkshire and the North of England). Core travel (under 1 hour) includes most of West Yorkshire, plus Skipton/Harrogate, and parts of Lancashire including Colne, Burnley and Clitheroe.

Keeping everything on-platform is what lets us actually protect your wedding day, not just process it.
What should I do if my artist asks me to pay them directly (bank transfer, PayPal, etc.)?
TheWeddingPainters is a booking platform – we help you and your artist keep the booking and payments clearly recorded. If payments happen privately, they won't appear in our system and it may limit how much we can assist if anything needs to be checked later.
If you ever feel unsure or pressured, please contact us and we'll take a look.
Will I lose any protection if I pay outside TheWeddingPainters?
If you pay your artist directly (for example by separate bank transfer, PayPal or cash), those payments won't show in your TheWeddingPainters booking record.
That means:
- We can't see what was paid, when, or on what terms
- It can be harder for us to help if there's a disagreement about what was included, what's still owed, or whether a refund is due
For that reason, we strongly recommend keeping all payments for your booking within TheWeddingPainters, where we process payments on your artist's behalf and keep a clear record for both of you.
